Andrew Bachelier

Executive Chef / Owner

Born in Puerto Rico and growing up throughout Mexico before eventually landing in the American Southwest, Chef Andrew Bachelier was immersed in vibrant food cultures from his earliest days. But like many other chefs, Bachelier’s true passion for cooking was ignited while working alongside his grandmother and mother in the kitchen.

Bachelier's prolific career began with apprenticeships in some of New York’s finest restaurants. He then returned to San Diego, where he honed his skills at Addison (***) for six years alongside Chef William Bradley. Subsequently, he took on the role of Executive Chef at Cucina Enoteca, contributing to the opening of several beloved venues dedicated to authentic Italian cuisine.

In 2016, Bachelier was appointed Executive Chef to launch Campfire. There, his ambitious and inventive menu, showcasing Southern California's bounty of produce through the lens of live fire cooking, garnered national acclaim, earning him a feature in Michelin's first-ever California guide. Campfire remains a cherished community cornerstone that transformed Carlsbad Village and ultimately paved the way for his next passion project: Jeune et Jolie.

Inspired by the rising movement of nouvelle French cuisine he discovered on a trip to Paris with Larah, Bachelier returned to partner with Campfire owner John Resnick to open Jeune et Jolie, a modern French restaurant that would honor recipes and techniques of the past, without being beholden to traditional flavors. Jeune et Jolie’s rise was meteoric and saw Bachelier cooking his most ambitious and inspired food to date, before unfortunately being halted by the global pandemic.

It was during these lockdowns that Bachelier was prompted to reevaluate his priorities, opting instead to spend time with his young family after a distinguished 22 year career. The opening of Atelier Manna finds Chef Andrew at a new beginning, where he is free to chase creative sparks with some of his most trusted collaborators, while staying close to home and setting the stage for the next act of his impressive career.

Larah Bachelier

Co-Owner / Designer

Larah grew up between Southern California and Hawaii with her identical twin Caroline. Watching her parents ‘pick’ at auctions and estate sales during her childhood, Larah began to develop her own keen eye for spotting soulful items; planting the seed for the dream to one day own her own antique shop.

She would eventually land in Carlsbad, where she would meet her husband at Campfire, Chef Andrew Bachelier. While pregnant with their daughter they traveled to Paris, where they not only discovered the nouvelle cuisine movement taking place, but they found their daughter’s name; Margot Jolie. Chef Andrew would return to open Jeune & Jolie, an homage to young Margot.

Larah's design talents are on full display at Atelier Manna. The space is lush, esoteric, and transportive. With over 90% of the restaurant being built with reclaimed and upcycled materials, her commitment to sustainability is perfectly matched with her keen eye for soulful items. Unique talismans and sourced pieces from Mexico and beyond adorn the culinary workshop, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and intriguing.

Larah enjoys being active with the kids, training Jiu Jitsu, teaching Muay Thai & women’s self-defense, and practicing yoga. But nothing brings her greater joy that serving her community of Leucadia, supporting her husbands dreams, and being a mother.

Nick Sinutko

Beverage Director

Born in San Diego and raised in the Bay Area, Nick Sinutko's childhood was shaped by the contrasting landscapes and city streets of Southern California and San Francisco. This early exposure to a diversity of cultures, languages, and cuisines laid the foundation for his eclectic character.

Before settling into the restaurant industry at the age of 23, Nick explored a variety of career paths, including touring musician, retail, shipping logistics, non-profit work, web design, even dog nutrition. It wasn't until he reluctantly took a job in a local restaurant that he discovered his true passion.

Now, with over 15 years of experience in beverage and hospitality, Nick is a well-respected figure in San Diego's restaurant scene. As Bar Director at Campfire, he creatively incorporated the kitchen and their open flames into his cocktails, staying true to the program's ethos while further solidifying Campfire as a city icon. In his cutting-edge wine program, he eschewed the traditional Euro-centric approach for a hyper-domestic focus, showcasing not only producers making wine in the classic styles but also those pushing the boundaries with experimental co-fermentations of multiple fruits, botanicals, and indigenous grapes.

He brings this same pioneering spirit to Atelier Manna's bold non-alcoholic "vitality tonic" program, seeking to bring the sensibilities and visual refinement of classic cocktails to uncharted territory: the wellness space.
